
New compact Acer PD1520S portable projector debuts at Computex 2025
On top of new laptops, displays, wearables and more, Acer threw in something unique out of left field at Computex 2025 – a short throw portable projector but one so compact that it makes the prospect of toting one in your backpack a viable prospect. Enter the PD1520S – a compact projector that’s flat and small enough to comfortably be toted in your backpack and capable of projecting up to a 120-inch sized image on demand.

On display at Computex 2025 was the Acer PD1520s smart projector which is about the size of a small plate. Like its more compact sibling, it has an LED light source but is capable of projecting up to a 120-inch image in FHD resolution with support for 4K content as well in 16:9 aspect ratio. It is a wee bit heavy at 1.3kg.

Deploying it is a relatively simple task and it offers more robots 4-corner keystone correction and also has autofocus. Connectivity is comprehensive with a HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm mini-jack, Bluetooth as well as WiFi and Miracast as well as Airplay support. In terms of pricing it will be available in EMEA in July from EUR 599. For now, there’s no word on specifics or pricing or even if it will come to Malaysia but one can hope.

If you thought the PD1520S was impressive, its sibling the PD1520Us is jaw dropping as it has the dimensions of a small paperback that weighs just 740g but is capable of kicking out a whopping 100-inch image at FHD resolution with compatibility for 4K content from just 44cm centimetres away.

That’s not all, the Acer PD1520US is not only compact, it’s rated for over 30,000 hours of service life and uses an LED light rated for 2,000 LED lumens which makes for fast start-up and shutdown while eliminating warm-up time. Better yet, it also has autofocus, and 2D keystone correction so you can plonk it down and get stuck in immediately.
Connectivity is comprehensive with WiFi, Bluetooth and HDMI 2.0 options along with screen mirroring so you can plonk it down and pair it up with your phone to catch up on your Netflix backlog. It also comes with an optional battery kit too for extended operation in the field. There’s no official word on local price or availability yet for Malaysia but hopefully it will make it to our shores in the future.
